Co-autor do livro "Uma introdução a mineração de dados: conceitos e aplicações", Ed. UFERSA (2014), publicou vários capítulos de livros e artigos completos em periódicos e anais de eventos nacionais e internacionais.

Atualmente é coordenador do PEP - Programa de Pós-graduação em Engenharia de Produção (Fevereiro de 2019 – atual). Atuou como vice-coordenador do PEP/UFRN no período (Janeiro de 2015 a janeiro de 2019). Foi Chefe do Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica (2004-2006). Atuou como representante docente no CONSEC/CT entre 2007-2009 e 2010-2014.

Atuou entre 2009 e 2013 como presidente da SBIC – Sociedade Brasileira de Inteligência Computacional (antiga SBRN – Sociedade Brasileira de Redes Neurais). Atuou como membro do conselho superior da SBIC entre 2013 e 2017. Coordena o Laboratório de Sistemas Adaptativos na UFRN. É membro do IEEE – The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering e da IEEE CIS – Computacional Intelligence Society.

Leciona, atualmente, disciplinas na Pós-graduação incluindo Gestão Estratégica Organizacional. Leciona na graduação disciplinas como Sistemas Digitais, Processamento Digital de Imagens e Inteligência Artificial. Orientou oito teses de doutorado e mais de trinta dissertações de mestrado, além de mais de uma centena de trabalhos de graduação, estágio e iniciação científica. Co-autor do livro "Uma introdução a mineração de dados: conceitos e aplicações", Ed.
